Peter S. Benton | President
Peter S. Benton is President of Phoenix Data Systems, a division of Bio-Imaging Technologies, Inc. Mr. Benton has more than 20 years of broad experience including: Life Sciences, automotive, industrial and aerospace sectors. His global experience encompasses acquisitions and divestitures, business development, strategic planning, and business reengineering.


Mr. Benton has played a leading role within the life science industry serving as Vice President for Johnson & Johnson’s Pharmaceutical business where he successfully overhauled the company’s new product development process and as Chief Operating Officer with etrials, Inc. Mr. Benton also co-founded Flexible Medical Systems in 2005 and serves as Chairman of the Board for this early stage medical device and diagnostics company.


Prior to J&J, Mr. Benton spearheaded merger and acquisition efforts for TRW’s $11.3 billion tier-1 automotive business. Mr. Benton began his career at GE and is an alumnus of their Manufacturing Management Program, advancing through positions of increasing operations responsibility in several of GE’s leading businesses.


Peter received his MBA in Finance & Strategy from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and graduated cum laude from Northeastern University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Douglas Cory | Vice President, New Product Development
Douglas Cory is a graduate statistician from the University of Rhode Island. As a key statistician on staff at the New England Medical Center, he was responsible for the design and implementation of the Laboratory Information System used to capture primary efficacy variables for the SmithKline Beecham Lyme Vaccine pivotal trial. Mr. Cory is a Microsoft certified professional programmer and is an expert in several programming languages.

Thomas Mahler | Vice President, Operations and Client Support
Thomas Mahler is responsible for developing new business, managing the customer service needs of all existing Sponsors and overseeing project management. Mr. Mahler's previous work experiences have included both customer service and retail sales experience.

Jonathan Andrus | Vice President, Clinical Data Management & Regulatory Operations
Jonathan Andrus manages regulatory compliance, data management, and training for Phoenix Data Systems.

Prior to joining PDS, Mr. Andrus managed clinical system validations and Part 11 & HIPAA assessments, and conducted computer system audits with Taratec Development Corporation. He also served in a number of different data management and business process management roles at Premier Research, a contract research organization located in Philadelphia.

Mr. Andrus has a Masters of Science in Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs from Temple University’s Graduate School of Pharmacy, a Bachelor of Arts from Temple University’s College of Arts and Sciences, and he is a certified quality auditor (CQA) and certified clinical data manager (CCDM). His professional affiliations include the Drug Information Association, the Society for Clinical Data Management (where he serves on its board of trustees), the American Society for Quality and the Mid-Atlantic Region Society for Quality Assurance. Mr. Andrus is a frequent speaker on topics related to electronic data capture, quality assurance and regulatory topics and is an instructor with the Pharmaceutical Training Institute.

Stephen Boccardo | Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Stephen Boccardo has 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and technology industries. In his role at PDS, he is responsible for sales, marketing, pricing and strategic planning.

Most recently, Mr. Boccardo was at Liquent, Inc. where he held various roles in sales and executive management. In his role as Vice President of Sales at Liquent, he was responsible for establishing and growing the U.S. sales force, strategic market planning and program development, channel partner development, OEM partner development, maintaining key account relationships, contract negotiation, and sales force management.

Mr. Boccardo’s experience also includes work as Vice President of information services for Bio-Pharm Clinical Services (OmniCare), a worldwide clinical research and development organization. He also served as a clinical programming manager at SmithKline Beecham, where he was responsible for supporting the clinical programming process and submitting new drug applications.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Ursinus College and his Masters in Computer Science from Villanova University.

Paul Jones | Director of Business Development, Europe
Paul Jones has 12 years of experience with many electronic data capture projects, working with major pharmaceutical companies, biotech, academic, and charity organizations. Mr. Jones heads up Phoenix Data Systems’ European office in a wide-ranging role encompassing business development, training, project management, clinical consultancy and general PDS customer service management in Europe.

Ivan Joseph | Vice President, Finance
Ivan Joseph is responsible for all of Phoenix Data Systems’ financial management. He has over 15 years of experience in both the financial and technology industries and, prior to joining the company full-time in September 2003, had worked with PDS as an external consultant since 2000.

Most recently Mr. Joseph served from 2002-2003 as CFO & COO of an early stage healthcare technology firm involved in software development and healthcare consulting. Prior to this, Mr. Joseph worked as an investment advisor with an international investment fund; he has also served as a board member and advisor to an early stage Dow Chemical product-repackaging firm since 2000. Mr. Joseph also worked in commercial banking with First Fidelity National Bank and First Union National Bank.

Mr. Joseph received both his B.B.A. in Finance and Economics and his Masters of Business Administration degrees from Temple University.
